Wolf Point, Montana

Wolf Point is a city in and the county seat of Roosevelt County, Montana, United States.[4] The population was 2,621 at the 2010 census.[5] It is the largest community on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Wolf Point is the home of the annual Wild Horse Stampede, held every year during the second weekend of July. Wolf Point's Wild Horse Stampede is the oldest rodeo in Montana, and has been called the "Grandaddy of Montana Rodeos".[6][7][8]

Wolf Point is located in north-eastern Montana in the wide, shallow valley of the Missouri River, just below its confluence with Wolf Creek. Wolf Point is situated on the High Plains of eastern Montana. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.88 square miles (2.28 km2), all land.[1]

The city is located on the north bank of the Missouri River, the southern part occupying the ancestral floodplain of that river. The northern part occupies south facing, low-lying hills overlooking a terrace.[9] The central business district is located in the described southern portion.

Worden, Montana

Worden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. The population was 506 at the 2000 census. Worden, along with Ballantine, Huntley, and Pompey's Pillar, is part of the Huntley Project, an irrigation district established by the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1907.

Worden is home to a number of restaurants, bars, stores, churches, and other services. It is also the home of the Huntley Project School System, consisting of an elementary, junior high, and high school. Huntley Project High School's team name is the "Red Devils."

Worden is located on land designated in 1868 as part of the Crow Indian Reservation. When the Northern Pacific Railroad was surveyed and built in the early 1880s, a station called "Clermont" was supposedly built 21 miles from Billings, just across the tracks from present-day Worden.

Wyola, Montana

Wyola is a census-designated place (CDP) in Big Horn County, Montana, United States. The population was 215 at the 2010 census.[1] 79% of the residents are Native American, and the majority are members of the Crow Nation.[2]

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 186 people, 52 households, and 43 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 26.0 people per square mile (10.0/km²). There were 57 housing units at an average density of 8.0 per square mile (3.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 18.82% White, 79.03% Native American, and 2.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.15% of the population.

There were 52 households out of which 48.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 23.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.3% were non-families. 13.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.58 and the average family size was 4.00.

Fort Smith, Montana

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.3 km2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.7 km2) is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 km2), or 14.90%, is water.[1] It is located along the Bighorn River where it exits from Bighorn Canyon. Montana Highway 313 ends at Fort Smith and leads northeast 42 miles (68 km) to Hardin and Interstate 90.

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 122 people, 51 households, and 31 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 103.6 people per square mile (39.9/km2). There were 143 housing units at an average density of 121.4/sq mi (46.8/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 64.75% White, 32.79% Native American, 2.46% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.92% of the population.

There were 51 households out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.2% were non-families. 37.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 3.26.

Anaconda Range

The Anaconda Range, informally known as the "Pintlers", is a group of high mountains located in southwestern Montana, in the northwestern United States. The mountain range takes its name from the nearby town of Anaconda, founded by Marcus Daly in 1883.[1] It runs northeast approximately 50 miles (80 km) from Lost Trail Pass to a point near the community of Anaconda, covering parts of Ravalli, Deer Lodge, Granite and Beaverhead Counties. To the northwest are the Sapphire Mountains, to the south is the Big Hole Valley. Due north, the range blends into the Flint Creek Range, and to the southeast lies the Big Hole River and Pioneer Mountains. The crest of the range is part of the Continental Divide, rising to 10,793 feet (3290 m) at West Goat Peak. Other major summits include Mt. Evans (10,641 ft, 3243 m), Mt. Haggin (10,607 ft, 3233 m), Warren Peak (10,463 ft, 3189 m), and East Goat Peak (10,399 ft, 3170 m). West Pintler Peak, located in a more commonly visited area, rises to 9894 feet (2895 m). Much of the range is protected in the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness Area.

The square markers used today to identify primary Montana highways are only slightly different from their 1940s and earlier predecessors. The old markers used the word "ROUTE" above the number in big size, the route number in the middle, and the word "MONTANA" from edge-to-edge at the sign bottom. The font used was similar to that used for US routes.

The highway markers for Montana's S routes are distinctive in that the route number appears in black on a white down-pointing arrowhead. (Early markers were white numbers on black arrowheads with the word Montana in the flat top of the inverted arrowhead and Secondary appearing below the route number on the shields.)

S routes first appeared on the state highway map in 1960,[3] even though the secondary system was established in 1942.[4] With very few exceptions (i.e. MT 287, former MT 789), S routes are exclusively numbered 201 and higher.

Rollins, Montana

This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Rollins has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfb" on climate maps.[2]

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 183 people, 83 households, and 60 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 62.5 people per square mile (24.1/km²). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 74.5 per square mile (28.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.36% White, 0.55% Native American, and 1.09% from two or more races.

There were 83 households out of which 14.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% were married couples living together, 1.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.62.

Sanders County, Montana

Sanders County lies on the state's western border; thus it shares the border with Idaho to the west. It is part of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains in the Bitterroot Range. The Clark Fork River flows southeast to northwest through the middle of the county,with the Bitterroot Mountains to the south and the Cabinet Mountains to the north.

It is partially arid, with the west-facing mountain slopes capturing the most rain: ranging from nearly 40 inches a year in Heron (similar to Seattle's annual precipitation) on the Western end of the county to less than 12 inches per year in Dixon on the East end.

A variety of birds and other wildlife are found in Sanders County. The Tufted duck has been observed along the Bull River. An amphibian, the Rough-skinned Newt, has a disjunctive population at Thompson Falls which is un-contiguous with the remainder of the Western United States population of this species.[7]

In Baltimore, numbered streets are found in the north-central part of the city, mostly in the communities of Charles Village, Hampden, and Waverly. The numbered streets, which run west-east, start with 20th Street (excluding 19½ Street, a short alley crossing Howard Street), which runs parallel to and one block north of North Avenue. The highest numbered street in Baltimore is 43rd Street, which runs from York Road several block east to Marble Hall Road near Cold Spring Lane. The numbered streets correspond with the first two digits in address numbers on north-south streets in this part of the city.
